Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce has had his say on what will be key in the upcoming summer transfer window.

LEEDS, ENGLAND - APRIL 13:

Steve Bruce has told the Star that he wants to make a minimum of six signings to strengthen his squad in the summer window.

The former Aston Villa boss has done remarkably well with the Owls since his appointment back in January and has led them to a 12th placed finish in the Championship this season.

Bruce will be looking to continue his good work next season and for that, he will need to have a strong transfer window. Bruce has revealed that patience will be key for the Owls during the transfer window due to the fact that Premier League clubs take their time in deciding the futures of their players.

He was quoted saying: ” The Premier League clubs don’t make their mind up on certain players until they name their 25-man squads so sometimes you have to be a bit patient to wait to see what you can get and that is what we do.”

Bruce also made it clear that he will not sign players just for the sake of it and insists that he is ready to play the waiting game to get what’s best for his side next season.

The Sheffield Wednesday boss hinted at the success stories of players signed on the final day of the transfer window like Tammy Abraham, Michael Hector and Josh Onomah from Premier League clubs and claimed: “That is usually the way the big clubs work. They see how they get on in pre-season and what they have got and then they go from there.”

Owls fans should be confident in Bruce’s abilities especially after how well he’s done since his appointment and if patience is the key, they will have to deal with the wait before they reap the rewards.
