It has been a solid enough start to the season for Sheffield Wednesday who currently find themselves 9th in the Championship league table. They are well positioned to make another run for the play-offs this season, but their goals tally in comparison to some of their rivals as of late could prove to be a problem. As reported by The Star, manager Carlos Carvalhal will be aiming to rectify that issue over the international break.

The issue does not seem to be creating chances, but actually converting them. The Owls have been carving out many opportunities but finding the back of the net is something that needs to be improved if they want to challenge for promotion.

“We have a two-week period now where we can train and will try to improve our efficiency. We must score more goals with the chances we are creating. We are creating too many chances but very few goals,” he said.

“We will try to create situations to improve our finishing. I believe my team will be back with better efficiency.”

Carvalhal added: “We must improve collectively and individually. We are waiting for some players to do better. They are trying. I believe they will do better.”

Wednesday have bounced back well in response to their play-off final loss last season, and fans will be happy with the start they have made. The next task following the international break is a trip to face top of the table Huddersfield, which will provide a good indication of where this Wednesday team is at in terms of progress.
