The win lifts the Owls up to seventh in the Championship.
Carlos Carvalhal has dedicated Sheffield Wednesday’s win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the weekend to Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri, the Sheffield Star reports.
The 4-1 victory over Kenny Jackett’s side ended a poor run of five games without a win in all competitions, and took Wednesday back to the brink of the Championship’s play-off spots.
Carvalhal paid tribute to the Thai owner, who had returned to England in the midst of their poor run.
“I want to dedicate the win to the chairman,” he told the Sheffield Star. “He is very happy. He deserves that because has suffered a lot in our games.”
While the scoreline is undoubtedly impressive, it will have been the manner of the victory that surely impressed Carvalhal more.
When a team is enduring a bad run of form – especially after making such a solid start to the campaign – going behind early on can often signal that the bad patch is set to continue.
However, a quick brace from Fernando Forestieri turned the game around just nine minutes after Benik Afobe had given the visitors the lead.
Second-half goals from Daniel Pudil and Gary Hooper ensured that the Owls head into Christmas having ended their poor run and on the cusp of the top six.
