Sheffield Wednesday linked with a new technical director.
Sheffield Wednesday fans before the game
Sheffield Wednesday are considering an approach to appoint Valentino Angeloni as technical director, Italian website Tuttomercatoweb report.
Angeloni currently works in the role at Serie A side Fiorentina, and is being courted by Roma. Tuttomercatoweb report that Sheffield Wednesday have now entered the mix to try and tempt him away.
The 51-year-old has only one year left on his Fiorentina deal, and has previously worked as chief scout at Inter Milan.
The Chronicle reported in 2013 that Sunderland wanted to bring him in as their head of recruitment.
Sheffield Wednesday owner Dejphon Chansiri
The interest is ambitious on Sheffield Wednesday’s part, but also shows the ambitious plans owner Dejphon Chansiri has for the club, and the Thai businessman’s finances may stand a chance of persuading Angeloni to join the Owls.
Fiorentina recently finished fifth in Serie A, and Roma in third. Sheffield Wednesday recently lost the Championship play-off final, with a Premier League place at stake, and bringing in a figure like Angeloni to oversee their summer spending would be the perfect way to show they mean business next season.
