The Blades face Reading in the Championship, with George’s brother Sam Baldock playing for the Royals.
On Saturday, two siblings are likely to go up against one another at the Madejski Stadium.
George Baldock plays at right-back for Sheffield United, while his older brother Sam plays up front for Reading.
With the Blades travelling to Berkshire for a 3pm Championship kickoff, should both Baldocks take to the pitch, they will be trying to get the better of one another.
During his pre-match press conference, United manager Chris Wilder was asked about how it would feel for the two siblings to face off.
“I don’t have a brother but I’ve got to say, if I did, he’d get booted,” the 51-year-old is quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Post. “George is that type of guy as well.
“You have to have the focus he’s got to be doing what he’s doing in his career. He’s got to play well regardless of whether his brother is up front or his mum is up front. He’d probably kick her during a game as well!”
George, 25, came through the ranks at MK Dons, the big club in his home region of Buckinghamshire, and has played on loan at several clubs in England and abroad (Transfermarkt).
In 2017 he sealed a permanent move to Bramall Lane and has made 43 appearances for the Blades so far, though just five this season.
According to The Star, Saturday game will be only the fourth time George and Sam have been on opposing teams since both became professionals.
The outlet also claims that both parents will be in the stands – just as well that Mrs Baldock is not on the pitch then!
