The Sheffield United goalkeeper is far from popular with those of a Sheffield Wednesday persuasion.

Dean Henderson of Sheffield United celebrates victory after the Sky Bet Championship match between Sheffield United and Brentford at Bramall Lane on March 12, 2019 in Sheffield, England.

The Sheffield United goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, is being mocked by a former Sheffield Wednesday player on Twitter.

Henderson’s big personality has made him a fans favourite Bramall Lane, where he is on loan from Manchester United.

And his winding-up of the Blades’ opponents this season has played a significant part in that.

One notable instance, in which Henderson made theatrical attempts to save non-threatening Wigan Atheltic shots during Sheffield United’s 3-0 win at the DW Stadium in January, saw the 22-year-old go viral on Twitter.

But after the Blades were beaten 3-2 by Bristol City on Saturday – they had previously gone close to 700 minutes without conceding – James Kay sent the following message to the Bramall Lane number one.

Kay progressed through Sheffield Wednesday’s academy ranks but never played a competitive game for the Owls, before spells at Mansfield Town and several local non-league sides.

And with Sheffield United still only two points off the automatic promotion places with seven games left to play, the lifelong Wednesdayite will hope his comments don’t come back to bite him in May.

Sheffield Wednesday’s season could also end on a high note, with only three points separating Steve Bruce’s side and sixth-placed Derby County.
