Sheffield United host Leeds in the Championship as two of the division’s out of form sides look to get their promotion push back on track.
One of the most eye-catching fixtures in the Championship this weekend is the lunchtime kickoff on Saturday (February 10) between Sheffield United and Leeds United.
The two Yorkshire sides are in poor form of late, but still remain very much in a push for the playoffs and victory for either in this clash could kick-start their promotion ambitions.
After a strong start to the season having come up as League One champions, the Blades have now won just two of their last 13 league outings and have also suffered defeat seven times during that period.
Yet Chris Wilder’s men are still just five points behind sixth-placed Bristol City and the United manager certainly doesn’t think the Premier League is beyond his side’s reach.
“We have to get over it (the run) quickly and set ourselves up for a grandstand finish,” Wilder told the Sheffield Star.
“Because we’re still in the fight and it’s still all to play for. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the character of our group, in fact I know there isn’t because they prove it every single day.”
Leeds, meanwhile, have lost four of their last six in the second tier of English football, a run which cost Thomas Christiansen his job as head coach and he has since been replaced by Paul Heckingbottom.
This game at Bramall Lane will be Heckingbottom’s first in charge of the Whites and with them only two points behind their hosts in tenth place, there is still all to play for in the promotion race.
