Sheffield United are said to be preparing a bid for the Brentford forward, who Crystal Palace failed to sign earlier this year.

The Brentford forward Ollie Watkins is again being linked with a move to the Premier League after The Sun reported that Sheffield United will bid around £15 million for the player Crystal Palace were priced out of signing in the summer transfer window.
The newspaper claimed that Watkins’ impressive form since switching to a central role has ‘confirmed Sheffield United’s belief’ in the 23-year-old’s ability.
Incidentally, Watkins spoke about his future as recently as last week and claimed to be happy at Brentford after signing a new contract. But he also admitted, via West London Sport, that his head was turned by Crystal Palace’s interest.
“When there’s speculation everyone’s head gets turned but it’s normal,” he said.
“I’m really happy here now and I think it really shows with the form I’m in and long may that continue. I’m feeling good.
“How have the club helped me refocus? For a start by giving me a new contract. They didn’t need to do that. That helps.”
The Daily Mail reported that Crystal Palace had offered £11 million for Watkins in August and his price is likely to have increased through his recent commitment to Selhurst Park.
But whether or not the £15 million Sheffield United are being tipped to bid will be enough to tempt Brentford into a sale – and whether or not the Devon native would fancy a move to Bramall Lane – remains to be seen.

Watkins has already scored seven Championship goals this season, and is just three short of equalling his previous-best second-tier tally.
Would the summer Crystal Palace target be a good addition for Sheffield United?
