The Tottenham Hotspur loanee was due to spend the rest of the season at Sheffield United.

Sheffield United fans are reacting on Twitter after Cameron Carter-Vickers was recalled early by parent club Tottenham Hotspur.

The centre-back was due to spend the full campaign at Bramall Lane, but Tottenham have exercised their option to bring him back in January.

Spurs are currently without Toby Alderweireld through injury, and their manager Mauricio Pochettino previously discussed the possibility of Carter-Vickers returning as cover for the Belgium international.

But while Carter-Vickers heads back to Wembley a more experienced player than the one who left in August, having made 17 league starts for Sheffield United [albeit none since Boxing Day] and represented the United States national team for the very first time, Blades fans’ reactions appear to suggest the 19-year-old may not be quite ready.

It remains to be seen whether Carter-Vickers will remain at Tottenham to compete with Jan Vertonghen, Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Juan Foyth, or head out on loan once more.
