Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Warburton insists Sheffield United target Seny Dieng won’t be sold for a “ludicrous” fee of £6 million, speaking to West London Sport.
It’s not often a goalkeeper is singled out for praise after his side wins 3-0 away. But if it wasn’t for Dieng’s cat-like reflexes, QPR’s thumping of Hull City on Saturday afternoon wouldn’t have been quite so emphatic.
The late-blooming shot-stopper made a handful of top-class saves when the game was still in the balance, including a stunning one-handed stop to deny Josh Magennis.
In fact, it was the sort of virtuoso performance that has made Dieng one of the Championship’s finest goalkeepers, not to mention a target for promotion-chasing Sheffield United.
The Sun recently suggested £6 million could be enough to seal the deal for Dieng, much to the bemusement of Rangers boss Warburton.
QPR want Sheffield United target Seny Dieng to stay
“No one here is going cheap. I read about a price tag on Seny. Ludicrous,” Warburton said after a result that leaves QPR second in the embryonic Championship table.

“The fans need not worry. The owners will put the right price on the players. Every player in the world has got a value. If anyone leaves QPR it will be on the owners’ terms.
“If they leave it doesn’t matter, because they’ll leave at a price that represents great value for QPR.”
With Premier League giants Arsenal refusing to pay the £30 million fee Sheffield United want for Aaron Ramsdale, QPR supporters can probably sleep a tad easier tonight.
Dieng had been lined up as a potential replacement for Ramsdale at Bramall Lane.
But if the latter is going nowhere, we can probably say the same about the former too.
