David Brooks put pen to paper on a new four-year contract at Sheffield United having greatly impressed already this season.
The 20-year-old’s performances have attracted interest from the Premier League, with the Sheffield Star reporting both Liverpool and Newcastle United were considering moves.
Yet rather than being worried about losing one of the most promising players at the club, Blades manager Chris Wilder is pleased there is speculation.

“If Real Madrid and Barcelona fancy him, then that’s great because he is doing something right,” Wilder said.
“He’s a good young player. Speculation only comes through really good performances, and he’s produced some really good performances this year. People don’t talk about players who aren’t doing it do they?”
Brooks, who is a product of the academy at Bramall Lane after joining from Manchester City, was set to go on loan to Chesterfield in the summer before Wilder changed his mind and kept the youngster in the first team.

It is a decision that has already paid dividends, with the attacking midfielder having made 12 appearances this season in all competitions and providing three assists.
Whether or not this new deal keeps Brooks at the South Yorkshire club for the long-term remains to be seen, but Wilder is welcoming the rumours.
