Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has confirmed to The Star that the Blades are in talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers about making their loan move for Ethan Ebanks-Landell permanent this January.

Wolverhampton Wanderers were the subject of a takeover from the Chinese investment group Fosun this summer and that has seen the club bring in plenty of new faces.

With new players arriving, some of the old had to be shifted out. One such player was Ethan Ebanks-Landell.

He left Wolves on transfer deadline day to join Sheffield United on a loan deal until the end of the season.

But speaking to The Star, Blades boss Wilder made it clear his intention was to have him tied down to a permanent deal by January.

Here is what he had to say:

“There are discussions going on between us and Ethan all the time, and they will ramp up towards January.

“He has been outstanding for us, the supporters have taken to a player who is fully committed and wants to win.

“We are talking all the time, but we can’t do anything right now. There are things underway that hopefully can go forward with. He just has to get his head down and play consistent good football, which he is doing at the moment.”

Ebanks-Landell began his football career at Wolves as a boy. If he is to confirm a permanent move to Bramall Lane in the winter then it would be the end of a 15-year association with Wolves for the 23-year-old.

He has featured in five games for Sheffield United this season and has played a big role in their upturn in form throughout September.
