The Owls U23s recorded a 5-1 victory in the Professional Development League at the weekend.

Even though the international break has put a temporary stop to England’s top two leagues, there was still football for Sheffield Wednesday fans to enjoy at the weekend as the Owls Under-23s put their Hull counterparts to the sword on Sunday.
Wednesday ran out 5-1 winners over the Tigers at the KCOM Stadium in a game which saw Fernando Forestieri enjoy a goalscoring return to action following the completion of his six-game suspension.
Hull goalkeeper Will Mannion was sent off for his first half challenge in the box on Forestieri, from which the returning Owls ace converted, and from then on it was one-way traffic, Fraser Preston adding to Liam Shaw’s brace and Ben Hughes’ cool finish.
Quite a few of Sheff Wed’s goals were high quality and the Owls Twitter feed proudly showed off Preston’s long-range effort, along with a link to the goal highlights on their YouTube channel:
The result saw Sheff Wed U23s climb to ninth in the Professional Development League table and up next for them is next Monday’s meeting with Bolton U23s at Stocksbridge Park Steels.
