A number of Sheffield Wednesday fans have taken to Twitter to praise Steven Fletcher for having been voted the Owls Player of the Month award for September (SWFC website).

The 32-year-old has enjoyed a prolific start to the 2019-20 season, scoring five goals in ten games and impressing with his all-round game.

This month, Fletcher began by weighing in with a powerful header against Huddersfield Town in a 2-0 win for the Owls at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Last Saturday, meanwhile, he added another goal to his tally by nodding home the fourth for Garry Monk’s side in the 4-1 hammering of Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium.

Indeed, Fletcher’s absence in Tuesday’s Championship clash against Hull City was felt as the front line was not as effective and could not score, the Owls losing 1-0 at the KCOM Stadium.

He picked up 31 percent of the vote, with Julian Borner second on 19 percent and Atdhe Nuhiu third on 14 percent.

Here is how the news was received by some of the Hillsborough faithful on social media about the £1.8million-rated ace (Transfermarkt):
