The Blades boss beat the likes of Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp to the accolade after steering his side back into the Premier League.
Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has beaten Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to the LMA Manager of the Year award after leading the Blades to automatic Premier League promotion.
The 51-year-old, who was also named Championship Manager of the Year, has achieved two promotions in three years since joining his boyhood club in May 2016, who had finished 11th in League One when he took the reins.
Wilder, who guided Sheff Utd to a second-placed finish in the second tier ahead of Leeds United, saw off Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, Mauricio Pochettino, Nuno Espirito Santo and Daniel Farke to win the top prize.
The Blades boss becomes only the fifth coach from outside the top flight to win the main award, and the first since Eddie Howe won in 2015 for leading Bournemouth to the Premier League.
“To be voted for by your peers to get this award is just unbelievable and caps off an incredible season for me and everybody at Sheffield United,” Wilder said on stage after collecting the award from Sir Alex Ferguson, as quoted by The Guardian.
“I would like to think we have struck a blow for recruitment, training ground, teaching and all the other stuff which goes on behind the scenes – there is no chequebook culture.”

Lincoln City’s Danny Cowley won the League Two award and Luton Town’s Mick Harford, who took over in mid-season for the remainder of the campaign, won the League One accolade.
