Alan Shearer has said on BBC One (7:50pm, June 14, 2021) what Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman told him about reported Liverpool target Pedri.

Shearer has said that when he spoke to Koeman a few weeks ago, the Barcelona boss was raving about the 18-year-old central midfielder.

Liverpool interest

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Barcelona and Spain international.

The Mirror reported in April that the Reds have made contact with the agents of the youngster.

Barcelona want to extend the contract of the youngster, who has a release clause of £70 million.

What’s been said?

Shearer said on BBC One (7:50pm, June 14, 2021): “I was lucky enough to interview Ronald Koeman two or three months ago. I was asking about the youngsters coming through at Barcelona. HIs name came straight up. The praise he was lavishing on was unbelievable, so big things.”

Liverpool transfer possible?

Pedri has a strong reputation, and Barcelona will know what a great player he can become.

The teenager would make Liverpool better, but it does seem unlikely that Barcelona will sell him.

Of course, money talks, but new Barcelona president Joan Laporta will know that selling a quality young player such as Pedri will not go down well among the fans.
