Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Newcastle star Ryan Fraser in his Premier League TOTW column after a superb display against Brentford on Saturday – claiming the Scottish ace is a “constant threat” on the right flank.

Fraser, 28, proved he can provide an end product alongside the hard work and grit on the right flank – supplying Joelinton with the cross for his header. Ultimately, another supreme performance from the Scottish winger.

The ex-Bournemouth man has definitely benefited from the arrival of Eddie Howe as manager – who he worked with at the Vitality Stadium. Howe has injected confidence into a player that Steve Bruce did not utilise properly.

Newcastle went on to win 2-0, going seven Premier League matches unbeaten. Shearer said on Fraser: “A constant threat down the left with superb crosses into the box, finding Joelinton for Newcastle’s opening goal.”

Howe is re-installed a commitment, a hard-working desire to put everything on the pitch for the fans and your teammates. Along with an improved confidence, Newcastle are back to their best, under Howe.

The Newcastle gaffer is earning huge praise from supporters and players alike – guiding Newcastle to safety, as things stand. Improving players like Fraser, Joelinton, Fabian Schar, Joe Willock and others is crucial to that.

If Fraser can add a goal or two to his game every few games, scoring like he did against Everton, then he can show why he deserves to remain a crucial part of the Newcastle project over the next couple of seasons.
