The Premier League legend and BBC Match of the Day pundit spoke after Spurs’ defeat to the Blues on Wednesday night.

Premier League legend and BBC Sport pundit Alan Shearer has made his feelings clear after Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 loss away at Chelsea on Wednesday night.
The ex-Newcastle United striker mentioned no less than three Spurs players in his criticism of their defensive display against a Blues side that was still dealing with the fallout from the Carabao Cup final.
Tottenham conceded just before the hour at Stamford Bridge as Pedro’s run behind Ben Davies culminated with a shot between Hugo Lloris’ legs at his near post, Shearer criticising Toby Alderweireld for letting the Spaniard get his effort in.
Harry Kane wasted a good chance to level for Spurs but Mauricio Pochettino’s side conceded once again six minutes from time when Kieran Trippier turned Olivier Giroud’s flick past Lloris into his own net.
Spurs needed a swift and decisive response after losing to Burnley on Saturday but a second defeat in a row in a matter of days will surely spell the end for their hopes of claiming the Premier League title.

Talking on BBC’s Match of the Day (27/02, 10:30pm) Shearer said: “Pedro running behind Ben Davies here, there’s no way Toby should let him come back inside and get a shot off. You’ve got to see him outside and if he whips a ball inside, so be it. And Lloris should do better as well. He shouldn’t be beaten at the near post there through his legs.
“And this is just a calamity between Lloris and Trippier, no communication. He’s actually looking at Lloris and Lloris comes sprinting out for some reason, doesn’t slow down whatsoever. It was a nightmare for Tottenham.”
