Newcastle United beat Fulham 4-0 on Sunday afternoon.

Pundit Alan Shearer has told Match of the Day (12/05/2019) that Newcastle United’s performance against Fulham on Sunday made him ‘very happy’.
The Magpies travelled down to Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon for their final game of the season, meaning they were looking to end on a high.
Newcastle were in great form as Jonjo Shelvey hammered home a superb strike, before Ayoze Perez made it eight goals in 10 games with the second.
Fabian Schar headed home the third, and Salomon Rondon got his name on the scoresheet too, scoring from close range in the second half.
Newcastle secured a 13th place finish, and will be looking for a big summer, starting with securing the future of manager Rafael Benitez.
Benitez’s contract expires in a matter of weeks, and that may well have been his final game as Newcastle manager if Mike Ashley doesn’t get a move on.
Now, Magpies legend and pundit Shearer has admitted Sunday’s performance made him ‘very happy’, whilst naming goalscorers Perez, Schar and Rondon as their top players this season.

Shearer urged the club to not only keep Benitez, but also to sign the ‘excellent’ Rondon permanently after his successful loan spell from West Bromwich Albion.
“Yes, I was very happy watching that performance,” said Shearer. “They need to sort [Rafa’s] future out, they need to keep him at all costs.”
“The best three players of the season for Newcastle – Perez, Schar and Rondon – were all involved in scoring the goals, it was a very very good performance. Perez has had an excellent season, and Rondon got the fan’s player of the season, rightly so. Whether they get him, whether they want to pay that money, is a different matter. If it was me, then I would do that – he’s been excellent,” he added.
