Alan Shearer has picked in-form Bruno Guimaraes in his Premier League Team of the Season, as per Premier League Productions (17/10/22).
Guimaraes has upped his incredible displays this season
The Brazilian international has operated in a deeper role this season, sitting behind the likes of Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff, while continuing to thrive for Newcastle United.
Whilst some may have questioned Guimaraes’ defensive abilities as an out-and-out No.6, he has been virtually faultless for Eddie Howe’s side this season.
Dictating the game from deeper positions whilst orchestrating the Magpies’ swift transitions, he seems to be in the form of his life as a defensive midfielder.

So much so that many fans have come out and said that the former Lyon lynchpin has outdone the likes of Rodri, Thomas Partey and Casemiro as the league’s best holding midfielder this season.
While that may be up for debate, it cannot be argued that the 25-year-old is the complete midfielder.
Shearer explains Guimaraes’ impact on Newcastle United
Alan Shearer told Premier League Productions why Bruno Guimaraes is in his Premier League Team of the Season so far, highlighting why has been so key to Newcastle’s success.
“He [Bruno Guimaraes] has been absolutely superb for Newcastle this season. Scoring, assisting, protecting that back four, spraying his passes around, always wants the ball.”
“When he’s under pressure or not and takes a lot of the heat off that back four when he’s actually getting the ball, so [Bruno] Guimaraes is in there [the Premier League Team of the Season].”
One cannot disagree with Alan Shearer, who is justified in picking the brilliant Bruno Guimaraes, who was signed for £40 million (Sky Sports) in Janaury as a part of his Premier League Team of the Season until now.
It seems as if Guimaraes, who initially took a lot of flak for aiming a dig at Arsenal, who were interested in his signature as part of his infamous announcement video after joining Newcastle is widely being recognized as a top player.
