Alan Shearer has told The Sun that Tottenham are almost helpless in surrendering the Premier League title to Pep Guardiola’s increasingly impressive Manchester City.

Man City have dropped just two points all season after 11 matches, winning 10 and drawing against Everton back in August and already sit a huge eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Guardiola’s side continued their excellent form by seeing off the challenge of Arsenal on Sunday, with Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus all scoring to earn a 3-1 win and cancel out Alexandre Lacazette’s strike.

Tottenham did earn three points against Crystal Palace thanks to Son Heung-Min’s effort, which proved to be the only goal of the game. However, they sit back in third on 23 points with City already on 31.

Newcastle legend Shearer claimed that City need to lose at least three games if Spurs or indeed Manchester United are to catch them before the end of the season, but stated that he does not see the likes of Aguero losing once.

“Of course the title race is not over. But can we really see this team tailing off? They would have to lose three games at the very least”, Shearer said. “Right now, I cannot see them losing one.

“It does not make United or Tottenham bad teams. It is just City have seriously raised the bar. No matter how much either side spends to improve, City can still find an answer.

“Can anyone really see a run of fixtures that will upset this team? United will sit there, wait and hope — but City look in it for the long haul.”

Spurs face two difficult tests after the international break, with a north London derby against Arsenal on November 18 before facing Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League three days later.

Pochettino will be desperate to welcome back all of his international stars to Spurs without any injuries, as he looks to make sure his side have the best chance of capitalising on a City slip.
