Everton boss Marco Silva decided to let go of Shayne Lavery at the end of last season.
Shayne Lavery’s career since leaving Everton in the summer continues to go from strength to strength.
Lavery, who is still only 20, was allowed to leave Everton to join Linfield on a free transfer at the end of last season.
The young forward was deemed surplus to requirements by Marco Silva, with Everton opting to let him go.
Lavery has wasted no time getting his career back on track since leaving Merseyside though.
The attacker has four goals in just nine appearances for Linfield, with all of his strikes coming in Europa League qualifying.
Those sort of striking instincts wouldn’t go amiss at the Toffees currently, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled and Moise Kean is still not off the mark.
Lavery’s excellent form has actually earned him a call-up to Northern Ireland’s latest squad, and he got on the pitch in a spirited display for his country against Germany.
And although it is far too soon to start suggesting that Lavery had what it takes to make it Everton, it does seem that he is going to go on and have a very solid career elsewhere.
