Newcastle United were beaten 3-1 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

Mbemba was restored to Newcastle’s starting line-up at Stamford Bridge, but the centre-back failed to impress.
Mbemba was brushed aside too easily by Alvaro Morata, as the Spaniard scored his side’s second goal in their 3-1 win over the Magpies.
And Given couldn’t believe how meekly Mbemba surrendered, to allow Morata to head into an empty net.
“The thing that disappointments me is he didn’t react,” Given said. “He didn’t appeal to the referee. He just accepts it. I didn’t like that.”

Newcastle actually took the lead against Chelsea, but they were unable to hold on to their advantage.
Dwight Gayle put the Magpies in front early on, when he poked the ball into an empty net, but Newcastle’s joy was short lived.

Eden Hazard struck and equaliser, before Morata scored to complete the comeback.
Hazard went on to cap off his brilliant display by scoring a third from the penalty spot, and condemned Newcastle to their fifth defeat in six Premier League matches.
