Steve Bruce is currently the heavy favourite with the bookies to land the Aston Villa manager’s job.

Shay Given has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 6th October, that Aston Villa should appoint Steve Bruce.
Bruce has previously taken charge of Birmingham City, but Given feels that he will be forgiven for that if he takes charge at Villa Park.
And the Republic of Ireland international has urged his old side to give the job to the former Hull City boss quickly, to ensure that he has the maximum time available to work with the team before their next match.

“I think he’d be a good candidate,” Given said. “The thing that Villa had in the past was McLeish, who was ex Birmingham and the fans were going nuts.
“Bruce has had a few years at different clubs and he’s a fantastic manager. The biggest thing for Villa is to get straight back up. Villa need to get it right sooner rather than later. The fans deserve better. The international break has come at a good time to get someone in.”
Bruce has become the odds-on favourite to land the Villa job with the bookies’, after being backed heavily overnight.

It is widely expected that the experienced manager will take over at Villa, as they look to get their season back on track.
The Claret and Blues have won just once so far this season, and currently sit in 19th place in the Championship table.
Villa are 10 points behind the play offs already, meaning that they are playing catch up in the race for promotion.
Villa return to action after the international break, with a match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
