Aston Villa's Carles Gil

Shaun Teale has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Aston Villa attacking midfielder Carles Gil is not good enough for the Championship.

Gil joined Villa from Valencia in January 2015 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £3.2 million.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna, having moved to the La Liga outfit in the summer of 2016.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Gil’s current contract with the Villans runs until June 2019, but former Villa defender Teale believes that the ex-Spain Under-21 international does not have the bottle to play in the Championship.

Villa are playing in the Championship this season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.

The Villans are 11th in the league table at the moment with 58 points from 41 matches, 11 points behind sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday.

Steve Bruce’s side are not going finish the season in the top six of the Championship this season, but they will be aiming to claim a spot in the playoff in 2017-18.
