Shaun Goater has well and truly roasted his fellow pundit Jermaine Pennant after he stated that Liverpool’s James Milner doesn’t remember playing for Manchester City.

Former City striker Goater then responded to Pennant’s comments by saying that ‘he remembers winning the league’ with the Manchester club.

Milner came on as a second-half substitute during Liverpool’s 3-1 win over City on Sunday, as he also took the captain’s armband when he replaced Jordan Henderson.

Former Premier League player Goater shared how difficult it is seeing Milner on the opposite side before his brilliant exchange with Pennant about the much-loved player.

“City fans see James Milner as obviously a former City player who done well and won some things with City,” Goater told Soccer AM. “To see him come on and have the armband [it hurts].

Pennant then stated: “The thing is Shuan once you are a red, you are always a red. I don’t think he even remembers playing for City.

Goater responded: “Well, he remembers winning the league!”.

Milner has had an outstanding career, playing for some of England’s great clubs, including the likes of Leeds, Newcastle and Aston Villa.

He already has a Premier League medal to his name, but he will be wanting to win the title with Liverpool at the end of the season.

If he does achieve that then it will only enhance his legacy with the Liverpool supporters because he also played a pivotal part in them becoming European champions in June.
