According to Goal.com, defending Premier League champions City are interested in Wolves star Neves.
It has been reported that Pep Guardiola’s side are closely following the 21-year-old Portugal international.
The Citizens, though, fear that they could be gazumped by city rivals United, according to Goal.com.
Former City striker Goater, who was on the books of United from 1988 until 1989, has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to speculation linking the two Manchester clubs with Neves.

Neves is a hugely talented and promising young midfielder who has already shown what he is capable of.
The 21-year-old has scored one goal and provided one assist in three Premier League appearances for Wolves so far this season, according to WhoScored.
During the 2017-18 campaign, the Portugal international midfielder scored six goals and provided one assist in 42 Championship matches for the Wanderers, according to WhoScored.
