Some Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to the news that Xherdan Shaqiri is about to join Lyon.
What’s the story?
The Athletic reported yesterday evening (7:55pm) that Liverpool have agreed a fee with Lyon over the transfer of Shaqiri.
Lyon will pay the former Premier League and European champions £9.5 million in transfer fee.
The former Inter Milan and Bayern Munich winger has already agreed personal terms with Lyon.
Liverpool have given Shaqiri permission to now go and have a medical to complete his move to the French club.
Lyon themselves announced on Twitter last night that they have reached “an agreement in principle with Liverpool” over the signing of the winger.

What are Liverpool fans saying?
As you can see from the tweets below, some Liverpool fans are disappointed that the club’s sporting director Michael Edwards has decided to sell Shaqiri.
Well, some of them anyway.
The 29-year-old made only 63 appearances for Liverpool following his move from Stoke City in the summer of 2018, according to The Athletic.

That stat suggests that Liverpool manager Klopp really does not consider Shaqiri a big player in his team.
Yes, there have been injury problems for the former Stoke star, but it is hard to imagine that Liverpool will actually miss him.
Moreover, Liverpool have Harvey Elliott now.
