Celtic new boy Shane Duffy has told The Daily Record that ex-Bhoys coach Damien Duff texted him after scoring on Saturday.

Celtic headed to Ross County on Saturday afternoon, and recorded a thumping 5-0 win at Dingwall.

Attackers Odsonne Edouard, Albian Ajeti and Patryk Klimala were all on the scoresheet, whilst centre backs Duffy and Kristoffer Ajer also found the net.

After a mixed start to the season, that was the kind of dominant win Celtic were looking for – and Duffy played a big part.

The Irish centre back has joined Celtic on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion earlier this mont, joining his boyhood club in a dream move.

Duffy may end up earning a permanent move in the future, but even if it is just for a year, then he has made a dream start.

The 28-year-old has now admitted that ex-Celtic coach and fellow Irishman Damien Duff sent him a message after the goal, suggesting that scoring at Dingwall may not have been his dream.

Still, Duffy admits it was a ‘special moment’, and celebrated how he attacked the ball for his goal.

“Damien Duff texted me and said, ‘I know it’s not what you dreamed of, going to Dingwall in front of 300 fans playing for Celtic’. But it was still a special moment. It was straight off the sweet spot, I attacked it well,” he added.
