Celtic won last season’s Scottish Cup final on Sunday afternoon; the global pandemic meant a major delay to the final at Hampden Park being played.

Still, the Bhoys ran out winners, but that doesn’t even begin to tell the story of a quite remarkable game at the national stadium.

Ryan Christie fired Celtic in front with a stunning curling strike, before Odsonne Edouard made it 2-0 with a Panenka from the penalty spot.

Second-tier Hearts didn’t give up though, and roared back as Liam Boyce and Stephen Kingsley hauled Robbie Neilson’s men level against all odds.

Leigh Griffiths did what he does best by poaching a close-range goal to put Celtic back ahead, only for Josh Ginnelly to bring Hearts level again and take the game to penalties.

Celtic came through on penalties, with Conor Hazard denying Kingsley and Craig Wighton, sparking wild celebrations from Bhoys stars.

It wasn’t vintage Celtic, and some may still be concerned that it took penalties to beat a second-tier side, but that doesn’t matter right now – Celtic secured a 12th straight domestic trophy with that victory.

After the game, defender Shane Duffy – who didn’t exactly cover himself in glory for some of the Hearts goals – took to Twitter to send just two words, branding Celtic ‘history makers’.

Duffy grew up supporting Celtic, so this moment meant a lot to him, and he will be hoping to add more silverware during his time at Parkhead.
