Some fans have taken to Twitter to react after the Scottish Lowland Football League released a statement involving Celtic and Rangers.
In the statement, it was revealed that the Scottish giants will both be allowed to field B teams in Scotland’s fifth tier from next season.
However, they will only be allowed to do so for one season only.
Now, that is quite strange.
While those in the fifth tier might be upset about Celtic and Rangers gatecrashing it, it can only be a good thing for Scottish football.
Now, both the Bhoys and the Gers will be able to send their biggest prospects out into the senior game, which will surely benefit their development.
In future, that will hopefully see the national team full of better quality players.
However, that would only be the case if this was a permanent decision, in our view.
There isn’t much point in adopting this process for just one season.
Of course, that one campaign will surely still benefit Rangers and Celtic’s best young prodigies.
However, it’s pointless to allow them this experience for one season, before snatching it away again and making them return to youth football.
Either implement it for good, or don’t implement it at all.
Understandably, fans of those clubs already in Scotland’s fifth tier are not happy about the Scottish Professional Football League allowing the big boys to gatecrash their territory.
