Ozan Kabak endured a nightmare debut for Liverpool, and one pundit believes it may be the last time he plays for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

The Turkish centre-back arrived on loan from Schalke at the end of the January window, with the champions desperately requiring defensive additions following long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip.

He turned out for the first time at the King Power on Saturday, and with 12 minutes remaining it looked like being a successful debut for the £34k-a-week defender.

James Maddison’s controversial equaliser was the start of Liverpool’s downfall, but the day will primarily be remembered for a catastrophic breakdown in communication between Kabak and Alisson.

Jamie Vardy capitalised to make it 2-1, and Harvey Barnes added another four minutes later to seal a 3-1 victory.

Former Norwich and West Ham striker Dean Ashton was at the game as a co-commentator, and told talkSPORT that Kabak may struggle to get game time again.

He said: “What a big, big mess up this is.

From the new man Kabak and Alisson, there’s either no communication or he doesn’t listen to his goalkeeper, they both go for the ball and the ball falls beautifully for Vardy.

“Only Alisson and Kabak are privy to who communicated what in that situation.

“We would hear something if there was a shout. There are no supporters, so we should hear Alisson from here to leave it, but we didn’t hear anything.

“This was an absolute shambles of a defensive performance in this second half, Klopp was going berserk at his players.

“Kabak’s your new man but will we ever see him again? It was a tough day for him. I feel for Kabak, he’s been left high and dry.

“It’s a worry when your goalkeeper is making so many mistakes, but this was a collective failure.”
