It’s fair to say that Liverpool fans are concerned after the latest injury update about their squad in the Liverpool Echo.

Worrying update

The local paper reports that Liverpool could now be without five players for their clash with Watford at the weekend.

Doubts remain about the availability of Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Curtis Jones, Alisson, Fabinho and Thiago Alcantara.

Jota has, most recently, picked up an injury – while Jones, Alexander-Arnold and Thiago are all struggling with existing knocks.

Jones did at least feature last night for England’s under-21’s in a cameo role, but there are concerns over whether he will be able to retain his starting place.

Alisson and Fabinho, meanwhile, may simply not have enough time to recover after playing from Brazil.

The Liverpool pair are due to feature on the early hours of Friday morning, with Jurgen Klopp’s side then in action against Watford on Saturday afternoon.

And Liverpool fans are concerned that this season could be a repeat of last one, after the injury update.

History repeating itself?

Liverpool certainly haven’t had the best of luck in terms of the fitness of their squad of late.

The Reds were decimated with injuries in defence last term, and battled brilliantly to keep their spot in the top four.

Liverpool’s current injury problems are not that severe yet, but there is understandably concern growing around Anfield, as they can ill afford too many problems.

Liverpool don’t have the same squad depth of some their title rivals, and it will be a test for Klopp to manage his squad over the coming weeks.
