Rangers have lost out to Celtic over Lewis Morgan.

Rangers fans have been left distinctly unimpressed as Celtic edge towards wrapping up the signing of Lewis Morgan.

BBC Sport report Morgan is set to join Celtic from St Mirren and head back to the second tier side on loan until the end of the season.

The deal is frustrating for Rangers as he left the Gers’ academy in 2013, and has even been a mascot for the club back in 2009, as reported by the Scottish Sun.

Celtic are flexing their muscle by acting swiftly to sign Morgan, but at a reported £300,000 fee, Rangers are being outmanoeuvred rather outgunned financially.

It is a disappointment for Rangers that the club have not managed to do a deal for a player with an existing connection to the club, and that his chances of playing regularly might be better with the Light Blues than at Celtic where there is more competition.

Some annoyance is being expressed towards Morgan himself, but the Rangers’ board is also under fire from supporters at another perceived failure in the transfer market.
