Mykhaylo Mudryk finally seems set to sign for Arsenal, and some Gunners fans on Twitter seem to believe that an announcement on this transfer front is coming today.

Indeed, Shakhtar Donetsk’s official Twitter account has posted a rather cryptic tweet on Saturday morning that seems to suggest that there is going to be some news emerging from the Ukrainian club today, and, as you can imagine, that’s sent Arsenal fans into a state of mania.

Shakhtar’s Twitter account has been teasing Gunners fans for weeks, now, and this may be the biggest tease yet.

However, in our view, this news that emerges today is very unlikely to be about Mudryk joining Arsenal.

While Arsenal fans are the main responders to that tweet, let’s not forget that the club are always trying to appeal to their own fanbase rather than any other.

Why would Shakhtar ever post a tweet like this to signpost the departure of their best player? The eye emojis and suspense-building nature suggest that it’s exciting news for Shakhtar, not the sale of their star man.

Imagine the furor if Arsenal were tweeting like this before they sold a player like Bukayo Saka? There would be hell to pay.

Factor in that The Times’ report on Friday night stated that a deal would likely be sealed next week, and it seems very unlikely that this tweet is alluding to a deal being agreed for Mudryk.

Luckily, it does seem as though this deal is set to go ahead as reports suggest that talks have been accelerating over the past few days, but it seems as though the Arsenal fanbase may have to be patient for a little bit longer before there is any official communication on this front.
