Kevin Campbell has hit out at Paul Merson for his comments about Arsenal on Sky Sports on Transfer Deadline Day.
The Highbury legend, who played alongside Merson, said that he was left ‘shaking his head’ at the ex-midfielder’s actions.
Merson suggested that he could do a ‘better job’ than Arsenal’s current head of transfers, Edu, as he told Sky Sports.
The Gunners have spent over £100 million this summer, but from the outside, there was criticism as to whether those players purchased will make a real difference to this declining side.
Nonetheless, following Merson’s comments about his former club, and he is never shy to say it like it is, this is what Campbell had to say in response.
“Again, this seems to be a recurring situation with Merse, at times,” said Campbell. “Yes, Merse is a Chelsea fan.
“But he has played for the Arsenal. He has had great times at Arsenal. Again, it’s his opinion.
“But it’s the way it is done is the tough part. I watch it and I shake my head. I just think ‘Oh no, no’.
“I am watching and thinking ‘Merse, don’t go there, don’t go there, don’t even go there’. When things change, sometimes the opinions change and they come out with ‘I told you so’. Always remember, log it down and write in the diary.”

After the international break, Mikel Arteta will face the toughest test of his managerial career because it’s make or break.
Arsenal are sitting bottom of the Premier League table. Zero points. Nine goals conceded and zero goals scored.
Norwich are only ahead of them in 19th place because they managed to score a goal against Leicester City last time out.
But the duo will face off when players return from national duty, and it’s pretty simple, lose that one and it’s going to be hard to see how Arteta survives.
