Are Manchester City paying over the odds for the Tottenham Hotspur man? Shaka Hislop believes so.
haka Hislop has told ESPN that he does not believe Tottenham Hotspur defender Kyle Walker, or any right-back, is worth £60 million.
The Mirror reports that is what Manchester City will have to pay in order to prise him from the North London club this summer.
The former Sheffield United man has been one of the Premier League’s most consistent performers in recent seasons.
And although Hislop does not believe Man City can justify spending so much on a right-back, he says Walker is among the best in the country regarding his specific role.
He told ESPN: “I think Kyle Walker is a fantastic right-back.
“I still don’t see that price tag being justified for a right-back, but he’s up there with the best of them [right-backs in the Premier League].”
It is a hell of a lot of money for a right-back but if City are willing to pay it then Tottenham have every right to demand it.
Question is, who will replace the Spurs ace? Dani Alves has been linked but Chelsea, according to The Express, is his most likely destination now it seems.
The Brazilian helped Juventus to the Champions League final this past season, where they were beaten 4-1 by Real Madrid.
Walker, who joined Tottenham in 2009, is contracted to Mauricio Pochettino’s side until 2021.
