Shaka Hislop admits he is impressed by the Arsenal defender so far in his burgeoning career.
Shaka Hislop has told ESPN that he has been impressed by Shkodran Mustafi’s start to life at Arsenal.
The centre-back joined Arsenal in a £35 million move from Valencia in August, according to The Mail.
The 24-year-old has started six games for the Gunners across Premier League and Champions League games.
And so far he certainly looks well worth the big money that manager Arsene Wenger spent on bringing him to North London, after forming what looks to be an excellent defensive partnership with Laurent Koscielny.
It is early days, of course, but Mustafi is looking like an excellent investment, and Hislop agrees so far.
He told ESPN: “I think he’s done well, alongside Koscielny, who for me is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League. But now he has a steady partner, one he can rely on, and it’s a good partnership for Arsenal.”
The sight of an Arsenal defender doing his job so well will delight fans, who have been tortured by a number of very inconsistent displays down the years, whether it’s from Per Mertesacker or even Koscielny himself, but Mustafi certainy looks like a cool customer, though bigger tests certainly lie ahead.
