Shaka Hislop offers an honest assessment of Celtic in the Champions League.
Speaking to ESPN, Shaka Hislop has predicted “another long 90 minutes” for Celtic in tonight’s Champions League clash with Manchester City.
Celtic go into the clash a little bit wounded in light of what happened in their opening game in this competition.
Two weeks ago, Brendan Rodgers’s side were destroyed 7-0 at Barcelona in a defeat which illustrated a massive gap in quality between both sides.
City may or may not be on Barcelona’s level, but the fact of the matter is that Pep Guardiola’s side are playing brilliantly at the moment.
The Sky Blues have won all six of their Premier League games, scoring 18 goals along the way and, in theory, the Hoops should struggle big time to pick up even a draw.
Borussia Monchengladbach are the other side in Group C, another team which, on paper, are comfortably ahead of Celtic.
And Hislop has admitted that it hurts him to say that the Scottish champions are simply “outclassed” in the Champions League.
He told ESPN: “Celtic are totally outclassed in this competition. It’s sad to say. As good as Barcelona are, Celtic didn’t offer much resistance.
“City are playing well. City are playing very well. I don’t see it being another seven, but it will be another long 90 minutes.”
