Fulham wonderkid Sessegnon has been linked with a move for much of the 2017-18 campaign.
Fulham owner Shahid Khan has told The Times that Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool target Ryan Sessegnon will be playing for Fulham at Craven Cottage next season, despite intense speculation over his future.
Sessegnon, who turned 18 less than two weeks ago, held aloft the SkyBet play-off final trophy after Fulham beat Aston Villa 1-0 at Wembley to book their place in the Premier League next season.
The left-sided wonderkid has enjoyed a breathtaking season, that has seen the England Under-21 international pick up the Championship Player of the Season award after scoring 16 goals in all competitions.
It has seen Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain linked by the Times, while the London Evening Standard claim Spurs, Manchester United and even Real Madrid are keen. But Khan says Sessegnon will be at Fulham next season.
“We don’t want Sessegnon leaving,” Khan said. “I don’t think he wants to go. He’s going to be at Fulham for the coming year, leading us into the Premier League. Frankly, if we had not been promoted, well, we have a responsibility to our players.
“He’s been there since he was eight. We want to do the right thing for him and he is Fulham through and through. He is going to be there next season.”
Sessegnon was linked with an England call-up before Gareth Southgate picked his 23-man England squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Russia, after his spectacular season.
He has three years remaining on his current contract at Craven Cottage and he is now likely to remain at Spurs and take on the Premier League with his boyhood club, rather than leaving west London.
