Alberto Moreno has recommended Liverpool to Sevilla winger Vitolo, the Spain star says.

The pair were teammates in Seville and have remained close friends despite Moreno’s 2014 switch to Anfield.

And Vitolo, who is set to win his ninth La Roja cap at Wembley on Tuesday, admits he is keen follow in his fellow Spaniard’s footsteps by moving to England’s Premier League.

On Moreno’s exit, Vitolo told the Daily Mail: “I was upset for him because we were very close here. I think Liverpool have a special player for many years to come. He’s still young.”

The 27-year-old added: “He tells me it (Liverpool) would really suit me. Liverpool is a great club with a lot of history. One day I would like to try a league like the Premier League. Let’s see what happens.

“When I was a kid on the Canary Islands, we followed the fortunes of Manchester United and Liverpool. There are a lot of great teams in England.”

Vitolo, who moved to Sevilla from local side Las Palmas in 2013, has impressed in Andalusia, winning three straight Europa League titles – the most recent one at Liverpool’s expense.

And while he will be keen to catch the eye once more, against England, whether Jurgen Klopp’s side would be interested remains to be seen.

The Reds are blessed with almost an embarrassment of riches in Vitolo’s preferred position, with Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Adam Lallana each playing starring roles this season. And although Vitolo can also operate at right wing-back, it is unlikely that Nathaniel Clyne would surrender his place so easy.

Moreno, meanwhile, has spent much of the current campaign playing second fiddle to James Milner.
