According to Transfer20, Sevilla have identified Jerome Onguene as another centre-back target as speculation rises over reported Liverpool target Diego Carlos.

Sevilla defender Carlos has been heavily linked with a summer exit.

The talented Brazilian is a reported target for Liverpool. According to ABC Sevilla, the Reds have already contacted sporting director Monchi over his availability.

El Desmarque, meanwhile, claim Carlos has a £65 million reléase clause.

The 27-year-old defender put in a superb performance as Sevilla returned from the Covid-19 suspension with a 2-0 home win over city rivals Real Betis.

Carlos posted five clearances and a 75% pass accuracy rate (Whoscored).

It will be a blow for the Andalusian club to lose Carlos this summer. However, the latest reports suggest they are busy sounding out potential replacements.

Estadio Deportivo say Genk’s Jhon Lucimi is an option. And Transfer20 now cite Red Bull Salzburg’s Onguene as a target with talks just beginning.

Onguene, 22, faced Liverpool in the Champions League group stage this season.

If the reports are true, then Liverpool’s chances of signing Carlos are on the up.

The Reds may have dominated the Premier League this season, but early exits in the FA Cup and Champions League show there is room for improvement.

Carlos could be a superb partner for Virgil van Dijk with his best years still ahead of him.
