The Spaniard would be a welcome addition for Southampton.

According to a report from Italian publication Calcio Mercato, Sevilla have joined Sampdoria in the race to sign Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini, and that might just present Ralph Hasenhüttl with an interesting opportunity.

The Austrian will undoubtedly be keen to add more quality to his attacking options at St Mary’s this month, with his side’s impotent front-line threatening to derail the Saints’ hopes of avoiding relegation this season.

With this in mind, Southampton should consider using Sevilla’s reported interest in Gabbiadini by asking for Nolito as part of the deal.

The experienced forward can play anywhere along the line, and his quality when in possession would provide Hasenhüttl with an entirely different option in the final third.

At 32, Nolito is still in great shape physically, and his presence at Southampton would surely help bring out the best in the likes of Danny Ings and Charlie Austin.

The south coast club should approach any kind of potential deal for Nolito with caution, however, following his failed stint in the Premier League with Manchester City.

It must be noted that he was never really given ample opportunity to shine at the Etihad, though, and if given the chance to play regularly at Southampton, he could turn out to be an excellent addition for Hasenhüttl’s side.
