Wolverhampton Wanderers have been through some turbulent times as of late, and their fans deserve some top level Christmas gifts to make up for that.
As with many clubs, Wolverhampton Wanderers have been on a rollercoaster journey over the last few years. Whether it was dropping down to League One or coming within an inch of the Championship play-offs yet again, things are never boring at Molineux. Nonetheless, there’s still many things that fans of the Midlands club clamour for and these items will surely be top of the Molineux outfit’s Christmas list.
Fixing that defence
Wolves’ Danny Batth
This one is no secret. The manner in which Wolves are conceding the majority of their goals this season is embarrassing, and as we approach January something desperately needs to be done about the situation. If the club want a stable finish this year, then sorting this out should be issue number one for the management and owners.
Experienced owners
Jeff Shi of Fosun International and Wolverhampton Wanderers owner
Speaking of owners, Fosun are certainly raising some eyebrows early on in their Molineux tenure. Whether it was the random hiring of Walter Zenga or the magnitude of new faces they helped bring in during the summer, fans aren’t quite sure what to make of them. In an ideal world, an experienced owner who knows how to run a football club would be ideal.
Non-fickle section of fans
Molineux – general view
In terms of fickle fan bases, Wolves are right up there with the worst of the bunch. There have even been some people suggesting that Lambert needs sacking, which is bizarre considering the Scot has barely been at the club five minutes. Their negative attitude at games just drags the atmosphere down, and they need to change their ways.
A new Sylvan Ebanks-Blake
Sylvan Ebanks Blake (C) – Wolverhampton Wanderers shoots at goal
This one would be fantastic. With the forwards at the club not exactly making any headlines, fans are invited to think back to the wonderful days of Sylvan Ebanks-Blake. The former Wanderers man won back-to-back golden boots in the Championship and was a massive fan favourite at Molineux. Heck, the supporters even made their own song for him.
Promotion
Steven Fletcher celebrates scoring the first goal for Wolves
It’s an obvious one, but it’s something that Wolves fans have wanted so very desperately since their relegation back in 2012. A club of their stature deserves to be back in the big time, and they have the talent and facilities necessary to get there. It’s a tough league this season so whilst this wish may not be granted, it is certainly within the realms of possibility.
A cup run
Wolves hero Andy Thompson
As has been noted several times in the past, Wolverhampton Wanderers do not do well in the cups – at all. Their best effort since 1999 was a quarter-final FA Cup appearance, and apart from that they haven’t even got close to achieving a day out at Wembley. Wolves fans remember that famous day in the play-off final well, and they want to feel that sense of occasion once again.
Consistency
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Paul Lambert
For once, they just need to be consistent. That’s the real thing that fans want. The players and management need to consistently give 110% for both the supporters and the club as a whole, and as long as that happens then the rest will come in time. The important thing is that fans want to feel like the passion is mutual – because right now it’s not.
