Everton are reportedly targeting a host of players in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Everton have yet to make a signing during this summer’s transfer window, but reports suggest that things may just be hotting up at Goodison Park.

The Toffees made a big statement early in the summer when they sacked manager Sam Allardyce and director of football Steve Walsh, replacing them with Marco Silva and Marcel Brands respectively.

Fans expected major recruitment to take place, but there have been no incomings at Goodison Park, and the only deal close is for Watford’s Richarlison, as he underwent a medical ahead of a £50million switch according to BBC Sport.

Richarlison isn’t the only name being mentioned, though. The Independent report that Barcelona duo Yerry Mina and Lucas Digne are both wanted by the Toffees, whilst RMC Sport recently noted that a £26.5million bid for Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure failed.

Finally, The Mirror today claim three names are on Everton’s wish list too, with Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria, Inter Milan’s Caen loanee Yann Karamoh and Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi all targets.

Everton won’t sign all seven of those players, but there appears to be a running theme with the targets, and that’s adding youth, pace and all-round athleticism to the Toffees side; attributes which were often lacking last season.

Mina’s height and aerial ability make him valuable at both ends of the pitch, Richarlison is quick and strong out wide, as is Karamoh if Everton decide to push for both players, whilst Digne’s defensive qualities may just free up Brazilian starlet Richarlison to play his natural game.

Adding a tall and athletically-gifted central midfielder appears to be a priority too given interest in Doucoure and Zakaria, and pairing one of them with Idrissa Gueye ahead of the one-paced Morgan Schneiderlin or Davy Klaassen would give Everton a new dimension in the middle of the park.

In attack, Batshuayi would again make Everton a more dangerous outlook with the ability to play in behind defences or with his back to goal, and adding five targets – Mina, Digne, Doucoure or Zakaria, Richarlison and Batshuayi – would revolutionise this Everton side.

Instead of being slow, ponderous, ageing and one-paced, Everton could be dynamic, exciting and imposing, and if those really are the top targets for the Toffees, Brands and Silva may have an exciting few weeks in store for fans, and an entertaining side to watch on the pitch.
