The Tottenham Hotspur winger was allegedly hoping for an Olympic-inspired big move but could now be set for Serie B.
According to a report from Sky Sports back in May, Tottenham Hotspur winger Nathan Oduwa was allegedly refusing to sign a new contract at White Hart Lane in the hope that a successful showing at the 2016 Olympics would earn him a move elsewhere.
In a blow to those plans, Oduwa was ultimately overlooked for Nigeria’s Olympic squad, and things have gone downhill rapidly since.
A seemingly successful loan spell at Rangers had been cut short, with a temporary switch to Colchester United not going according to plan, and now the 20-year-old finds himself at Peterborough United, where he has failed to score and has provided just one assist in seven appearances.
So it is somewhat ironic that having allegedly being holding out for a big move elsewhere only a few short months ago, Tutto Mercato Web now reports that Oduwa could be set for a free transfer to Serie B.
There are also some Serie A clubs said to be interested in the player and it seems to be a straight fight between Salernitana, Bologna, Atalanta and Entella for his signature if, as expected, he leaves Tottenham for free in the summer.
That is not exactly what he would have been hoping for back in May, when interest from Spain was said to be influencing his decision to step back from negotiations at White Hart Lane.
Still, he has done little to justify that bluster since and he looks set to leave Tottenham without making a single appearance for the first-team.
