Speaking to Everton’s official club website, Carlo Ancelotti has heralded Seamus Coleman’s attributes as a leader, comparing him to some of world football’s great captains.
Ancelotti has had the pleasure of working with some fantastic leaders throughout his career, and he believes Coleman is right up there amongst the best of them.
Indeed, the Italian compared the Republic of Ireland international to some of his former players, including John Terry, Sergio Ramos and even Paolo Maldini.
“It is important for a manager to have in his squad a player who is setting the standards really high.
“Seamus is an example for the others. In this sense, he is the same as John Terry, Paolo Maldini, Sergio Ramos; all great models for their teammates.
“Sometimes, you see players sitting on the bench not ready and not focused because they are not playing.
“But in that situation, Seamus is a fantastic example.”

This is unbelievably high praise from the Everton manager.
Terry, Ramos and Maldini aren’t just three of the best players of all time, they’re three of the best leaders in the game’s history.
Coleman’s impact on the pitch has been fantastic for the Toffees, and it seems as though he’s also setting the bar on the training ground and in the dressing room.
Everton are lucky to have a player like him, and the fact that he’s set to return against Burnley this weekend is a huge boost.
