Greg Taylor cannot wait for Kyogo Furuhashi to return from his long-term injury absence as the striker set a ‘really high’ bar after his arrival at Celtic, via quotes by the Glasgow Times.

Furuhashi has been out of action since Boxing Day when the 27-year-old limped off away to St Johnstone. The £4.5m summer signing from Vissel Kobe tore his hamstring after just 15-minutes of the Hoops’ win. Liel Abada had already broken the deadlock at McDiarmid Park.

Ange Postecoglou has been cagey while discussing the forward’s rehabilitation over the last few months. But the Bhoys boss hinted recently that Furuhashi could make his return after the March internationals. So, he may call on the forward to feature in the Old Firm derby.

Celtic will host Ross County at Parkhead on March 19 in their final Premiership game before the international break. One point against the Staggies will keep the Bhoys atop the league table. The Hoops also visit Dundee United next Monday in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.

Greg Taylor ‘can’t wait’ to have ‘unbelievable’ Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi back

Despite missing the last two-months through injury, no Celtic player has scored more goals than Furuhashi so far this season. The Japan international has struck 16 in 26 games across all competitions since his arrival in Glasgow. He has also hit eight in 14 league appearances.

Abada has overtaken Furuhashi in the Hoops’ Premiership scoring charts with nine goals in 29 appearances. So, Taylor looks forward to Furuhashi’s return to the Celtic squad from his injury troubles with great anticipation, having set such a high marker for others to match.

“Kyogo set the bar really high with the way he started,” Taylor enthused. “He has been unbelievable and we can’t wait to have him back.”
