Speaking on the Seaman Says Podcast, David Seaman has been discussing the surprise factor at the World Cup and Luis Diaz.
Seaman was discussing how teams prepare for certain games on the international stage, and he theorises that it is easier for England to play against an international team that have plenty of Premier League players.
The pundit states that if you’ve not played against a player before they can take you by surprise, pointing towards Liverpool’s Diaz as an example of a player who took opponents by surprise as an unknown entity.

Diaz the surprise factor
Seaman spoke about Diaz’s immediate impact at Anfield.
“Exactly, it does help when you know what they’re capable of and when you’ve played against them before. Straight away I think about Diaz when he came to Liverpool. Straight away he set it on fire because people didn’t know what he was going to do next. Those unknown players are what make it so difficult in international football,” Seaman said.
Unpredictable
Diaz took the Premier League by storm last season because he, quite simply, is one of the most unpredictable players in the world.
Nobody knew what to expect from the Colombian when he arrived, and then when he started playing, he was even more difficult to figure out.
Diaz is genuinely a player who can do anything on the ball, and that makes him so frightening to play against.
The surprise factor has worn off a little bit, but that doesn’t mean he’s any easier to play against.
