Ryan Sessegnon has told Sky Sports that Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho would send him ‘motivational’ text messages.

The 20-year-old is currently out on-loan at Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim where he was voted fans Player of the Month for November.

Whilst Sessegnon is adding more experience to his game over in Germany, back home, Tottenham are sitting top of the pile in England’s top-flight.

Sessegnon shared his thoughts on Tottenham’s title chances before praising the ‘world-class’ duo of Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane.

“He [Mourinho] will contact me,” said Sessegnon. “For example, when I scored he text me saying ‘Good goal. Carry on’. Little messages like that motivational.

On Spurs winning the league: “I hope so. They are playing very good. They look very comfortable as well. You can see everybody is buying into the ideas of what the gaffa wants.

“When you have world-class players like Kane and Son that can go and win you a game then it makes the defender’s job a little bit easier as well. I don’t want to put too much pressure on them but they have a good chance.”

When Sessegnon was ripping it up in the Championship for Fulham as a teenager, a lot was made about where his career was heading before he got his big move to Spurs.

Things haven’t gone to plan as he would have liked but the key thing is that he has years and years ahead of him.

Added with that, he clearly is willing to learn and this loan spell over in Germany will do him and Tottenham the world of good.
